The fault codes listed below concern AEG brand washing machines. Depending on the model of your washing machine, error codes may be displayed differently.
If your washing machine has a digital display system: the fault codes will be displayed directly on the screen.
If your washing machine does not have a display system , error codes will be displayed via flashing lights
- LED colors:
- Red flashing indicates tens digit
- Units flashing green
- Interpretation of the letters:
- These result in a number of flashes greater than or equal to 10. The letter A means “10 flashes”, B = 11, C = 12, D = 13, E = 14, F = 15, and so on.

ERROR CODE E1X – FILLING
This code indicates that your washing machine is having a filling problem. You must then check the good condition of the following elements: the tap, the solenoid valve, the filling circuit, the pressure switch and the compression chamber.
If the problem persists, check the electronic board of your washing machine. If it is defective, replace it.
ERROR CODE E2X – DRAIN
This code means the problem is with the drain system. Please check the good condition of the following elements: the drain filter, the pump, the pressure switch and the compression chamber.
If the problem persists, check the electronic board of your washing machine. If it is defective, replace it.
ERROR CODE E3X – FILLING
This code indicates that your washing machine is having a problem with the filling system. Please check the good condition of the following elements: the analog pressure switch and the compression chamber.
If the problem persists, check the electronic board of your washing machine. If it is defective, replace it.
ERROR CODE E4X – DOOR CLOSING
This code tells you that there may be a problem with your washing machine door closing. Please check the correct functioning of the following elements: the door security, the wiring, as well as the electronic card.
ERROR CODE E5X – MOTOR
This code tells you that there is a potential problem with the washing machine motor rotating. Check the correct functioning of the following elements: motor, tachometer, connectors, wiring, electronic card as well as the electronic engine management board.
If you have a washing machine equipped with a three-phase asynchronous motor (washing machine weighing more than 8 kg and silent), check the electronic motor management board.
ERROR CODE E6X – HEATING
This code means there is a problem with the heating system. Please check the correct functioning of the following elements: immersion heater (resistance), temperature probe, heating relay (on card).
If the problem persists, check the electronic board of your washing machine. If it is defective, replace it.
ERROR CODE E7X – TEMPERATURE PROBE
This code indicates that there is a malfunction in the temperature sensor. Check the value of the CTN type probe, i.e. 5 to 6 Kilo-ohms at 20°.
If the problem persists, check the electronic board of your washing machine. If it is defective, replace it.
ERROR CODE E8X – PROGRAM SELECTOR BUTTON
This code indicates that there is a problem with the program selection button.
This may also be a problem with the water recirculation pump. Please check its condition.
ERROR CODE E9X – ELECTRONIC CARD
This code indicates a problem with the configuration of the electronic card. You must then reconfigure or change it.
EAX ERROR CODE – DRUM
This code means that the drum positioning system is faulty. You need to check that the positioning system is on the pulley.
EBX ERROR CODE – POWER SUPPLY
This fault code indicates that your washing machine is experiencing a power supply problem. Simply unplug your device for a few minutes and plug it back in.
EFX ERROR CODE – INCORRECT USE
This code means that there is improper use of the washing machine. Problems may include:
- too much detergent in the detergent drawer,
- clogged drain filter,
- poorly positioned laundry,
- water inlet tap closed.
E11: Overfoaming Detected
The washing machine has detected excessive foam during the wash cycle, which can lead to issues. Use less detergent or check for detergent buildup in the drum.
E12: Drum Motor Error
There’s a problem with the washing machine’s drum motor. Inspect the motor and its connections for issues.
E13: Water Temperature Sensor Error
The water temperature sensor is not functioning correctly, affecting the wash cycle. Check the sensor’s wiring and connections for problems.
