Fault codes, also called error codes or fault codes, allow your device to automatically report an internal malfunction. Below you will find the list of fault codes for your Hotpoint washing machine and their meaning: this will give you an indication to best diagnose the origin of the malfunction of your appliance.
The error code can be read directly on the front panel of your Hotpoint washing machine. Depending on the model, you can read this code on a display (for example, “Err 01”) or by observing the number of flashes of the LEDs. Each indicator light has a numerical value. Starting from the bottom and moving upwards, the first light is number 1, the second is number 2, the third is number 4, the fifth is number 8, and the sixth is number 16. When multiple lights are lit, the code corresponds to the sum of these lights. (Example: Number 1 and number 2 are lit, the code is F3).
Refer to the instructions for your Hotpoint appliance to find out the exact meaning of the fault code displayed or the lights flashing. The number of flashes often corresponds to the error code number, but there are specificities linked to each model and brand.
ERROR CODE 01 – MOTOR SHORT CIRCUITED
This code indicates a short circuit of an electronic component on the board that controls the motor.
Check the connections on the motor and on the electronic board, then replace the control module if it is defective.
ERROR CODE 02 – MOTOR ROTATION
This fault code indicates that there is no rotation of the motor.
Check the power supply, motor windings and tachometer reading (which should be between 115 and 170 ohms). Failing this, replace the electronic power board.
ERROR CODE 03 – TEMPERATURE PROBE
This code indicates that the temperature sensor is defective.
Check the probe connections and check its value which should be around 20 Kilo-ohms at 20°C. Replace it if the value is incorrect or the problem persists.
ERROR CODE 04 OR H2O – HIGH WATER LEVEL
This code is displayed when the water level in your washing machine is too high.
Check the compression chamber, the pressure switch and its connections, which will need to be replaced if necessary.
ERROR CODE 05 – DRAIN
This code indicates a drain fault. The device does not empty its water or does not detect the empty water level.
Check the compression chamber, pressure switch, drain pump and drain lines.
ERROR CODE 06 – PROGRAM SELECTOR
This fault code indicates that the program selector is defective.
Check its connections and replace it if the problem persists. You may need to replace the entire control board.
ERROR CODE 07 – HEATING
This code indicates a fault in the water heating system. The water does not heat up or remains too cold.
Check the resistance, the value of which must be close to 25 Ohms, its wiring and its connectors (lugs), then the temperature probe. If one of these parts is defective, replace it.
ERROR CODE 08 – INADEQUATE WATER LEVEL
This error code indicates that the water level detected is not correct for optimal operation of the machine.
The water level may rise in the device insufficiently, so check the inlet flow into the device, by opening the taps correctly and checking that the supply pipes are not kinked or blocked. Then check the compression chamber, the pressure switch and its connections.
ERROR CODE 09 – PROGRAMMING
This code corresponds to a programming problem with your electronic card.
No interaction is possible with your device or no option can be chosen, so the electronic card must be replaced.
ERROR CODE 10 – WATER LEVEL
This code indicates that the water level cannot be measured correctly due to a failure of a part of the measuring system.
Check the compression chamber and the pressure switch, which must be replaced if it is the cause of the problem.
ERROR CODE 11 – DRAIN
This code indicates that the drain cannot be carried out correctly.
First check that no object is blocking the entrance to the drain pipe. Then check that the pump is not clogged or in poor condition, as well as the drain pipes, which could be kinked or blocked.
ERROR CODE 12 OR 18 – COMMUNICATION BETWEEN CARDS
These codes indicate a communication problem between the electronic modules.
Check the connections between the modules and replace the cards in poor condition.
ERROR CODE 13 OR 14 – DRYING
This code is usually displayed on a combination washing and drying machine and indicates a problem with the heating system.
Check the drying resistance, thermal safety devices and their wiring. Also check the drying probe, the resistive value of which should be around 20 kilo-ohms at 20°C.
ERROR CODE 15 – DRYING PROGRAM
This fault code is displayed when the drying program does not stop.
Check the drying probe and drying heater control board and its connections.
ERROR CODE 16 – DRUM POSITION
This code only concerns top-loading washing machines and indicates a failure of the drum to be blocked in the top position.
Check the drum positioning system on the pulley. Check the connections and the condition of the positioning system, then replace the part if necessary.
ERROR CODE 17 – DOOR LOCK
This code displays when the door lock is faulty.
Check the door closing system (hook and hinges), the lock as a whole and the lock wiring and connectors.
ERROR CODE F01 – HEATING
This error code indicates a fault in the heating system.
Check the resistor, its connections, and the temperature probe. Replace the part if one is defective.
F02: Motor Tachometer Fault
There’s an issue with the motor’s tachometer, which monitors motor speed.
F03: NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) Sensor Fault
The NTC sensor, responsible for measuring water temperature, is malfunctioning.
F04: Water Inlet Valve Fault
There’s a problem with the water inlet valve, affecting water filling.
F05: Pump Blockage or Filter Issue
The pump is blocked or the filter is clogged, leading to drainage problems.
F06: Door Lock Error
