Fault codes, also called error codes or fault codes, allow your device to automatically report an internal malfunction. Below you will find the list of error codes for your Samsung washing machine and their meaning: this will give you an indication to best diagnose the origin of the malfunction of your device and proceed with its repair.
The error code can be read directly on the front panel of your Samsung washing machine. Depending on the model, you can read this code on a display (for example, “Err 01”) or by observing the number of LED flashes (for example: 4 LED flashes = “Err 04”).
Refer to the user manual for your Samsung device to find out the exact meaning of the fault code displayed or the lights that flash. The number of flashes often corresponds to the error code number, but there are specificities linked to each model and brand. This will help you in carrying out your washing machine repair.
ERROR CODE H1 – WATER HEATING
This fault code means a water heating malfunction. The resistance which ensures this heating is connected to a temperature probe regulating the power according to the selected program.
ERROR CODE 8E, 8E1 AND 8E2 – ELECTRONICS
This fault code indicates a problem with the electronics of your machine. This may be caused by a failure of the electronic card.
ERROR CODE 1E, LE, IE, SUDS – WATER SUPPLY
This fault code corresponds to a water supply problem with your washing machine. The water has not reached the correct level. However, a water supply to your washing machine must be constantly regular and sufficient to ensure its proper functioning.
ERROR CODE UE, UC, DC OR E4 – LAUNDRY DISTRIBUTION
This fault code means that there is a poor distribution of laundry, an excess or a lack of loading. To solve this problem, simply lighten the load and balance it well.
ERROR CODE SE, 5E, E5 OR ND – DRAIN
This fault code indicates that your washing machine is unable to drain. This could be from the drain pump, drain hose, or compression chamber.
ERROR CODE 3E, 3E1, 3E2, 3E3 OR 3E4 – MOTOR OR ELECTRONIC CARD
This fault code indicates that the motor or the electronic card are faulty. Check these items.
ERROR CODE E3 – MOTOR
This fault code indicates a motor problem with your washing machine. In this case, the pump may run idle, or the motor may not start and the machine remains silent.
ERROR CODE HE2, HE, HE1 OR HR – WATER TEMPERATURE
This fault code corresponds to a problem with the water temperature in the washing machine. This code usually only appears 10 minutes after starting a program.
ERROR CODE DE, DE1, DE2 OR DS – LOCK
This fault code corresponds to a problem with the door lock or the washing machine door. For error code DE1, the machine was unable to lock the door. For the rest, the door remained unlocked so the device was running.
To resolve this problem, you can turn off your machine by pressing the Power button, and then redo the wash cycle.
ERROR CODE 4E, 4E1 OR 4E2 – FILLING
This code indicates a problem with the water filling of your washing machine. The water does not enter the appliance correctly and this prevents the washing cycle from starting normally.
It is therefore important to check the compression chamber and the pressure switch if the machine is filling. Otherwise, the water inlet, the pipe, the hose solenoid valve must be checked.
ERROR CODE LEI OR LE1 – WATER LEAK
This fault code indicates a water leak in your washing machine. The latter is normally equipped with a water stop sensor. The device stops the water supply and drains it instantly.
ERROR CODE SUD, 5UD, 5D OR SD – EXCESS FOAM
This fault code indicates excess suds detected during the wash cycle and this prevents the machine from completing its cycle. After these codes are displayed, the washing machine pauses while the foam volume decreases.
cE: Communication Error
The main control board is not communicating correctly with the washing machine’s sub-boards.
DC: Door Issue
The washer’s door is not closed properly, or the machine detects that the door is open during operation.
dE: Door Error
The door is not locking or unlocking properly. This could be due to a faulty door lock mechanism or a misalignment.
dS: Door Sensor Error
The door sensor is not functioning correctly, leading the machine to misinterpret the door’s status.
FE: Overflow Error
There is an excessive amount of water in the washer, possibly due to a faulty water valve or sensor issue.
HE: Heater Error
The washing machine is detecting an issue with the heating element, preventing water from reaching the desired temperature.
LE: Leak Error
A potential leak has been detected at the base of the washing machine.
OE: Drain Error
The washer is unable to pump out the water, which may be due to blockage or pump malfunction.
SE or 5E: Drainage Error
Water is not draining correctly. Check for any obstructions in the drainage hose or pump filter.
tE: Temperature Sensor Error
The temperature sensor is malfunctioning, leading to incorrect readings or heating issues.
UE: Unbalanced Load
The washing machine has detected an unbalanced load, which might prevent it from spinning correctly.
3C: Motor Reset Error
The motor has failed to reset and may be malfunctioning. Consider turning off the machine and restarting.
AC6: Inverter Communication Error
There’s a communication issue between the main control board and the inverter board. It may require checking the wiring and connections.
HC: High Temperature Heating Check
The washer is detecting that the water temperature is rising too high during a wash cycle, potentially due to a malfunctioning heating element or temperature sensor.
LC or LC1: Water Leak Error
Water is detected at the base of the machine, triggering the safety float switch. It suggests a potential leak.
PC: Clutch Position Control Error
The washer is having trouble controlling the position of the clutch, which can affect spin cycles.
Ub or 1Ub: Unbalance Error
An unbalanced load is causing the drum to oscillate too much. This can prevent the machine from reaching its full spin speed.
Uc: Overcurrent Error
The motor is drawing too much current, which might be due to a blockage or a motor malfunction.
Sud or 5ud: Suds Error
Excessive suds are detected in the washer. This can occur from using too much detergent or the wrong type of detergent.
4C2: Hot Water Supply Error
Hot water is being supplied when the machine is set to use cold water. Check water hose connections to ensure they are correctly set up.
SC: No Spin Check Error
The washing machine is unable to spin. This may be due to an unbalanced load or a malfunctioning component.
0C: Overload Error
The washing machine is overloaded with clothes, putting excessive strain on the motor.
Od: Door Open Error
The washer detects that the door is open when attempting to start a cycle. Ensure the door is closed and latched properly.
FL: Door Lock Error
The door lock mechanism is malfunctioning, preventing the door from being securely locked during operation.
2E: Control Board Error
The main control board has encountered a malfunction or communication issue. A reset or replacement might be necessary.
6E: Water Heater Error
The washing machine has detected an issue with the water heating system. This can be due to a faulty heating element or related components.

7E: Silver Care Error
The Silver Care system, which uses silver ions to sanitize clothes, is malfunctioning.
8C: MEMS Sensor Error
The MEMS sensor, which detects drum balance, is malfunctioning or giving incorrect readings.
9C1: Overvoltage or Overcurrent Error
The motor has detected an overvoltage or overcurrent condition, which can be hazardous. It might require checking the electrical supply or the motor itself.
18C: Button Error
One or more buttons on the control panel are stuck or not responding. Ensure there’s no debris or damage affecting the buttons.
21C: Stuck Button Error
A specific button on the control panel is stuck or continuously being pressed. This may require cleaning or replacing the control panel.
3C1: Motor Overheat
The motor has become too hot and might be at risk of damage. It’s essential to let the machine cool down and ensure no blockages are causing the motor to strain.
3C2: Motor Timeout Error
The motor has been running for too long without achieving its goal (e.g., spin speed). There may be an issue with the load balance or motor functionality.
4C3: Cold Water Fill Error
The washer has issues filling with cold water, possibly due to a closed supply valve, kinked hose, or faulty inlet valve.
5D: Excessive Foam Detected
The washing machine has detected an overabundance of foam. This is often caused by using too much detergent or a non-HE detergent in HE machines.
