Terms and Conditions SHYMON

1. Appointments

  • Service hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • A 3-hour window is assigned one day before your visit, based on technician proximity and availability.
  • Please confirm by email or phone (one channel only). Unconfirmed visits are not guaranteed.
  • Part-installation visits are scheduled after required part(s) arrive.
  • Parking: Ensure suitable parking; if unavailable or restricted, the visit may be canceled.

2. Service Call Fee

A non-refundable service call fee of $89 CAD + tax applies to every request. It covers:

  • Travel & Initial Diagnosis — travel time and preliminary assessment.
  • Credit Toward Repair — the $89 is deducted from your final repair invoice (acts like a down payment).

Example: If the repair total is $300, you’ve already paid $89, so you owe $211 + tax at completion.

Fee still applies if the issue is due to external causes (e.g., installation, plumbing, electrical, vent blockages, or other non-appliance faults).

3. Estimates

  • Written estimates are valid for 7 days.
  • Any deposit or payment (parts, labour, service) signifies acceptance of the estimate and these Terms.

4. Payment

  • Due on completion of the job.
  • Overdue balances accrue 1.5% per month (or the maximum permitted by law, whichever is lower).
  • Customer is responsible for collection costs and reasonable legal fees, if applicable.

5. Warranty

  • 90-day limited warranty covering the same issue serviced.
  • Excludes: misuse, inadequate maintenance, pests, weather, relocation, and third-party work.
  • Non-transferable; void if installation/manufacturer standards are not followed.
  • Repeat visits where no defect is found or the issue is outside coverage are billed at the standard service call rate.
  • No refunds on provided labour or parts; partial refunds may be considered at our discretion.

6. Cancellations

  • Cancel at least 12 hours before your window.
  • $60 fee for late cancellations, no-shows, or if we cannot reach you.
  • If we miss your call, please leave a message or email.

7. Repair Cost

Pricing is based on the nature and complexity of the repair—not technician time—and reflects parts, materials, and expertise.

8. Liability Release

By engaging service, you release Appliance Repair Shymon, its owners, employees, and technicians from liability for damages or expenses arising from appliance repair.

9. Service Specialization

  • We repair appliances; we do not provide replacements.
  • We install original or equivalent quality parts. We do not manufacture parts and are not responsible for supplier timelines.
  • For manufacturer/extended warranty jobs, we act as a third-party technician and are not your warranty provider or the manufacturer.
  • Direct calls: we can diagnose, order parts, and complete repairs.

10. Customer Responsibilities

  • An adult 18+ must be present.
  • Have a valid payment method ready. No cheques or e-transfers.
  • Provide clear, safe access to the appliance (empty units; unstack washer/dryer if applicable).
  • We do not move appliances. If we assist at your request, you accept a liability waiver.
  • Please refrain from smoking near our technician.
  • If the unit is not installed to manufacturer standards, service cannot proceed and the service call fee is not refundable.

11. Installation Charge

  • Standard charge covers appliance removal/installation only.
  • Does not include gas, water, vent, or electrical modifications; regulatory compliance is the customer’s responsibility.
  • Materials (hoses, lines, fittings, etc.) are billed separately.
  • Second person (e.g., stacked units) is billed additionally.
  • A service call fee applies if installation cannot proceed as scheduled.

12. Parts

  • We use original or equivalent parts.
  • Within parts warranty, replacement part cost is covered; shipping/handling is the customer’s responsibility.
  • 15-day money-back on over-the-counter parts; after 15 days, a 25% restocking fee applies.
  • Shipping/handling is non-refundable; electrical or special-order parts are non-returnable.
  • Parts lead times depend on manufacturers; once received, we schedule promptly.
  • Important: If you approve service, pay a deposit, and we order parts, later cancellations still incur the 25% restocking fee.

13. Completed Repair

A repair is complete when the technician marks it “repair completed”. Full payment confirms you have reviewed and tested the appliance. Refunds are not offered for completed or in-progress repair work.

14. Limitation of Liability

Our total liability is limited to the fees collected. Neither party is liable for special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages.

We focus on repairs and do not provide appliance replacement services.

15. Warranty / Extended Warranty / Service Contracts

  • For covered repairs, payment is submitted to the warranty or service-agreement provider.
  • If any portion is denied or limited, you agree to pay the outstanding balance within 10 days.
  • You are responsible for reasonable collection costs, including legal fees.
  • Please review and comply with your warranty’s terms and limitations.

16. Damage Waivers

  • Moving appliances: If a technician assists at your request, we are not liable for resulting damage.
  • Water leaks: We are not liable for unintended leakage/flooding related to building plumbing.
  • Defective cooling: We are not liable for the underlying malfunction.
  • Glass cooktops: Lifting may risk breakage; we are not liable for breakage during necessary access.

17. Refusal of Service

We may refuse service for disrespectful or unsafe behaviour. A service call fee may still apply.

18. Additional Notes

  • Service windows may vary by location and availability.
  • Credit card required at booking; a $1 authorization hold may be placed and released automatically after 3 days.
  • Same-day service may be available depending on schedule.
  • Two-technician redundancy: if two techs provide the same diagnosis/findings, an NFF fee may apply.
  • Difficult parking surcharge: $24 in areas such as downtown Toronto.
